Birth Mother Scholarships

ADOPTMATCH BIRTH PARENT SCHOLARSHIP

A. Scholarship program for birth parents
B. $500 awarded twice per year (May and November)
C. Payment will be paid directly to the educational institution
D. Enrollment Phase:

i. 1-2 recipients will be chosen in May (Mother’s Day) and November (adoption month) of every year
ii. Must apply during the specific enrollment phase to be considered for the scholarship
iii. May enrollment phase: February & March – applications reviewed in April
iv. November enrollment phase: August & September – applications reviewed in October

E. Eligibility Requirements:

i. Must be a birth parent who has placed a child for adoption within the past 5 years
ii. Must have worked in some capacity with an AdoptMatch-Approved Professional Partner (find a list of our partners here)
iii. Must provide contact information for the professional (agency or attorney) that handled your adoption
iv. Must show proof of part-time/full-time enrollment to an educational institution or trade school or show a business plan or self-employment (i.e. unofficial transcript)
v. Must submit a 400-word essay answering the following questions:

01. Describe how adoption has impacted your life (both negatively and positively).
02. In what ways do you desire to be a positive role model for your child?
03. How might the AdoptMatch Birth Mother Scholarship help you accomplish that goal?

ADOPTions From the heart

A. Educational scholarships can be used for trade schools or for undergraduate studies at a university
B. Recipients are eligible for up to 8 semesters
C. Eligibility requirements:

i. Must have placed a child for adoption any time after 1985 (must provide a letter from your agency/attorney for verification).
ii. Must have been accepted to a college or trade school.
iii. Must show need for financial assistance (w-2 or previous year tax return)
iv. Must write an essay regarding your adoption story

Lifetime Adoption Foundation

A. Eligibility requirements:

i. Must be received 3 months prior to the start of enrollment to ensure processing
ii. Must apply for the application herself (no third-party applications will be accepted)
iii. Must show proof of part-time/full-time enrollment to an educational institution or trade school
iv. Must be drug free and have a current grade point average of C or higher
v. Must be a birth mother that has placed a child for adoption any time after 1990 (must provide verification from the professional that handled the adoption). Adoption must be legally finalized before receiving the scholarship.
vi. Must write a 400-word essay.

ADOPTion choice, inc.

A. Eligibility requirements:

i. Must be a birth parent that has placed a child for adoption through Adoption Choice, Inc. (verification of placement from adoption professional is required)
ii. Must be received 3 months prior to the start of enrollment to ensure processing
iii. Must apply for the application herself (no third-party applications will be accepted)
iv. Must show proof of part-time/full-time enrollment to an educational institution or trade school
v. Must have a current grade point average of C (2.5) or higher
vi. Must be a birth mother that has placed a child for adoption any time after 1990.

American adoptions

A. Scholarship program for birth mothers and birth fathers.
B. Every birth mother who goes through American Adoptions will receive a scholarship application to be considered for the scholarship.
C. Scholarship can be used towards any college or school to help cover the cost of tuition or books.
D. Recipients are eligible for up to 8 semesters.

A. Up to $10,000 is awarded annually (once in autumn and once in spring)
B. Scholarships are made payable directly to the school on behalf of the student

i. Must be either a birth parent or an adoptee
ii. Must have been accepted to (or currently enrolled) in a university, vocational, technical or trade school
iii. Upload a video (2-minute minimum) demonstrating or explaining how adoption has made an impact on your life
iv. Must be a birth mother that has placed a child for adoption any time after 1990.

A. Fred M. Riley Birth Parent Scholarship Fund

B. Eligibility requirements:

i. Must have letter of acceptance from educational institution or trade school
ii. Must have been accepted to (or currently enrolled) in a university, vocational, technical or trade school
iii. Must show a class schedule that includes applicant’s name and ID number
iv. Must be drug free and have a current GPA of C (2.5) or higher
v. Must provide a tuition invoice for the upcoming semester
vi. Must write a 400-word essay describing future life goals

ADOPTION & BEYOND

A. In deep appreciation to the birth parents who have chosen adoption for their child, Adoption & Beyond proudly offers educational scholarships.

B. Eligibility Requirements:

i. Applicant has placed a child through Adoption & Beyond’s Agency Program and the adoption has been legally finalized.
ii. Completed Application and Supporting documents must be received by April 15th each year.
iii. Applicant must show proof of part-time or full-time enrollment or intention of enrollment in an educational or trade school in order to qualify. We will need either: a notification from registrant’s office, tuition invoice, class schedule with name and ID number, or acceptance letter from school.
iv. If in school, applicant must have a current 2.5 or higher GPA (Grade Point Average).
