All About Chad & Matt

Adoption is such a wonderful selfless act, and we recognize our privilege to be able to move through this process. We are grateful you are choosing to learn more about our story and journey to adoption.

Our names are Matt and Chad, and we are searching for an expectant mother interested in creating an adoption plan with a loving, supportive, and inclusive couple. We are home study approved and qualified to take placement in the event that you are ready to choose a family.

Our path to finding one another began in 2014. Like most couples these days, we met each other online. Living two hours from one another led to more than a year of pounding the highway pavement every weekend to be with one another. As they say, absence makes the heart grow fonder, and we certainly felt that. While not always easy, this experience strengthened our love and commitment to one another early in our relationship. We fell hard and have been happily in love ever since.

We began to seriously consider adoption after moving in with one another. After getting married in front of our closest family and friends, we began making lifestyle changes to enhance our financial security and purchase our current house in preparation for this journey. We found a beautiful home in a quaint and inclusive neighborhood where we plan to stay as we grow our family.

We have the most amazing dog named Rosie. She is truly the sweetest and most loving pup we've ever met. She loves everyone she meets and is so gentle with babies and children. Many of our closest friends have babies or toddlers and it has been so fun watching Rosie share her space (and kisses) with them.

When we're not taking Rosie for walks or hanging with our friends or family, we love to explore our city's incredible food scene, local festivals, and catch a good movie. We've been fortunate to travel the globe and try to take one bigger trip every year. We can't wait to explore this big beautiful world with our future child.

Why Adoption?

Adoption is something that has always felt right for us. As a gay couple, we’ve known that building our family might look a little different, but that hasn’t changed our desire to be parents and open our hearts to a child. We believe that families are formed through love and connection, not just biology, and adoption gives us the incredible opportunity to share our hearts and home with a child who needs both.

We have so much love to give and a strong support system of family and friends who are just as excited as we are about welcoming a child into our lives. For us, adoption is a way to create a family while also providing a safe, inclusive environment for a child to grow, thrive, and feel cherished.

We know adoption is a lifelong journey, and we are fully committed to supporting a child in every way possible, honoring their unique story, and helping them feel a deep sense of belonging.

Family & Home

We are fortunate to live in a beautiful 1920s bungalow that blends the charm of historical design with all the modern amenities that make life comfortable. One of our favorite features is the fenced-in backyard, perfect for playtime and family gatherings.

We love our neighbors and we feel privileged to have found a diverse and inclusive community. We intentionally chose this area for its welcoming atmosphere, the local schools and a park that’s just one block away Plus, we’re centrally located, so we’re never more than 10 minutes away from anything we need!

Family is very important to us. We spend time with both sides of our families regularly, and some of our closest friends are actually cousins we see often. Many of them have beautiful young children, ranging from 2 to 9 years old, and it brings us so much joy when we spend time together. We also love taking regular vacations with our parents.

How others describe me

Matt describing Chad:

Chad is one of the most thoughtful, caring, and genuine people I know. He has a natural way of making people feel comfortable, supported by his sensitivity, empathy for others, and the values he gained from growing up with a close-knit family. Throughout his career, he has made a significant investment in others, highlighting his strong focus on what matters and the dedication and care he brings into our lives. With Chad, I know our future child will have a solid foundation of support, love, and understanding. He’s ready to create a safe, warm environment where our child can explore and grow, and I know he’ll help guide them with the same encouragement he offers everyone around him.

Chad describing Matt:

Matt has an incredible ability to connect with others, making everyone feel welcome and valued. His outgoing personality shines through in social situations, where he effortlessly engages with people and builds genuine connections and relationships.

He is a fantastic cook, always whipping up delicious and healthy meals for us. His passion for sustainability is evident in everything he does—he’s dedicated to using clean products and prioritizing clean foods, which reflects his commitment to both our health and the environment.

While he can be a bit of a worrier, it’s only because he genuinely cares about those around him. This caring nature extends to our furry girl, Rosie; he truly is the best dog dad ever, always making sure she is safe, happy, and well taken care of.

He’s a motivated and detail-oriented partner dedicated to building a stable and meaningful future for our family–and I am so grateful to call him my husband.

Advice to Future Child

The most important advice we can give you is to always be yourself. You are unique, and the world needs you and your voice. We want you to know that it’s okay to be curious, to ask questions, and to explore who you are as you grow. We will always be here to support and guide you, helping you discover your passions and strengths.

Remember that kindness matters. How you treat others and yourself is what truly defines you. Life may have its challenges, but you are never alone in facing them. Lean on those who love you—we’ll always be here to lift you up when you need it.

Lastly, know that love makes a family, and you are loved beyond measure. No matter what, you belong, and we will always be by your side, cheering you on as you chase your dreams and become the incredible person you are meant to be.

Perspectives on Open Adoption

We believe that open adoption is important to honoring our future child’s story. We are fully open to an adoption that allows ongoing contact with birth family members, as we understand how valuable it can be for a child to maintain connections to their roots and have a fuller understanding of their identity.

Open adoption, in our eyes, must be built on respect and trust. We feel that having the opportunity to share our child's journey with their birth family is a way to give them the best of both worlds—a strong foundation of love from all sides. We are committed to creating a positive, supportive relationship with our child's birth family, and we will always prioritize what is best for the child in that process.

For us, openness means being honest and transparent, and we want our child to feel empowered by their story, knowing they are surrounded by love from everyone involved in their life.
