All About Dan & Katie

We’re Katie and Dan, and together with our 5-year-old daughter, Adeline (Addie), we make a loving, adventurous family. Our home is filled with laughter, creativity, and care for one another. Addie is energetic, imaginative, and fearless—always ready for a new adventure or a cozy story at bedtime. We love spending time together exploring the outdoors, whether we’re camping, hiking, or discovering a new city or our own backyard. Travel and adventure are a big part of our lives, and we’re excited to share those experiences as our family grows. More than anything, we value kindness, connection, and creating a home full of love and encouragement. We can’t wait to welcome another child into our hearts and family.

Why Adoption?

From the start of our relationship, we knew we wanted to adopt, inspired in part by Dan’s father and aunt and the stories of friends’ adopted children. Adoption has always felt like a meaningful way to grow our family, and we are grateful for the support of our loved ones. Addie is excited to be a sister, and everyone around us is eager to welcome a new child(ren) into our lives.

Family & Home

Our home is cozy, full of love, and welcoming. There are spaces for everyone—quiet corners for independence and cozy areas for family time together. The kitchen is the heart of our home, perfect for cooking, dancing, and laughter. Our basement playroom is full of toys, games, and room to be creative. Outside, our backyard is large and inviting, with old oak trees, a garden, and plenty of space to play and explore. It’s a home filled with warmth, joy, and room to grow together.

Our neighborhood has everything we could want. We live in a suburban town with parks, a nature center, and trails to explore. Addie’s future school is nearby, with fun playgrounds, and her favorite coffee shop is just across the street. Our home is a place for connection and creativity, where we enjoy cooking together, family dinners, backyard picnics, and movie nights. We are lucky to have caring neighbors and friends who feel like family.

We are very fortunate our parents and all of Katie’s four siblings live nearby. Dan’s sister and her three daughters live a state away, and we often meet halfway to catch up—whether at a trampoline park, for lunch, or in a nearby park. Our extended family is always involved, offering plenty of helping hands and endless love to go around.

How others describe me

Katie is the creative heart of our family. Whether she’s planning a craft project for Addie or trying a new recipe, she’s always full of surprises. As an interior designer, she brings creativity to her work and home life. At home, Katie is loving, patient, and selfless. Her thoughtfulness and imagination make our family life joyful and meaningful.

Dan is kind, loyal, and full of humor. He brings love, laughter, and adventure into our home and is always finding ways for us to spend quality time together. He balances a busy career while being a devoted husband and father. His optimism inspires us daily, and his calm, supportive nature makes him someone we deeply admire.

Addie is loving, energetic, and fearless, with just the right amount of sass. She has a vivid imagination and a natural curiosity about the world. Addie loves climbing, dancing, and building with LEGOs, always diving into new adventures with confidence and joy. From a young age, we’ve encouraged her independence, resilience, and kindness, and we know she will bring that same warmth and excitement to being a sister.

Advice to Future Child

Life is full of possibilities. We want you to always be curious, to try new things, and to follow what makes you happy. We’ll be here to help you learn, explore, and grow every step of the way.

Our home is full of laughter, creativity, and love. We can’t wait to share that love with another child. We want Addie and her future brother or sister to know that they are safe, supported, and loved no matter what.

We promise to give you a home where you can be yourself, dream big, and know that you are loved just for who you are.

Perspectives on Open Adoption

We believe that open adoption is built on love, honesty, and respect. To us, it means giving a child as much love and connection as possible. We want our future child to know where they came from and to grow up proud of their story.

Addie already knows how special adoption is, and she’s so excited to have a brother or sister to share her adventures with. We want our children to know that they are surrounded by people who love them and our hope is to build a relationship that feels natural, caring, and full of kindness, so that our children grow up knowing that love brought us all together.
