All About John & Drew

We’re John and Drew. Thank you so much for taking a moment to get to know us. Our story began 14 years ago in Indiana with a wink that turned into something pretty amazing. At the time, John was just starting college, and Drew had recently graduated and was beginning his career. For a while, we made it work long-distance, living in different cities until we were finally able to move in together when John started pharmacy school. Even then, we were still doing long-distance, with Drew traveling for work. After John graduated, we moved to Ohio and were finally able to live under one roof as John started working as a pediatric pharmacist and Drew began working from home in the insurance field.

Together, we’ve built a home filled with love, laughter, and a lot of heart. A big part of that love comes from our two rescue dogs, Ryder and Ollie. They’ve grown up with us and brought so much joy and warmth to our lives.

Family has always been incredibly important to both of us. John is the youngest of three, and Drew is the oldest of two. We travel back to Indiana often to visit our families and spend time with our six wonderful nieces and nephews.

Why Adoption?

From the beginning of our relationship, we’ve dreamed of becoming parents. We’ve been inspired by Drew’s aunt and uncle, who adopted and created such a loving family. Seeing their journey helped us realize that adoption is the right path for us too. We’re so ready to open our hearts and home to a child, and we’re excited about the opportunity to share our love, our lives, and our traditions as a family.

Family & Home

Our home is in the suburbs of Columbus, and over the years, we’ve turned it into a place that really feels like ours. We’ve done a lot of home improvements and renovations, always making it more comfortable and special. We’re still making new memories here, and we love sticking to our annual holiday decorating traditions. Even though we’re in the suburbs, we’re lucky to be just a short drive from downtown Columbus. You’ll often find us checking out new restaurants or attending festivals there!

Pets have always been a big part of our lives, and that didn’t change when we moved in together. We decided to rescue Ryder, who was our quiet and calm companion. After a few months, we thought he might like a friend, so we rescued Ollie. It didn’t take long to realize that Ollie’s playful, high-energy personality was the complete opposite of Ryder’s laid-back vibe.

Nine years later, they’ve become the perfect pair; total opposites who balance each other out. They’ve definitely kept us on our toes over the years, but we wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Though different, they both agree on wanting love, attention, and cuddles. And when we visit family in Indiana, they soak up all the extra love, especially from the nieces and nephews!

How others describe me

Drew, as seen by John

Drew really is a man of many talents. He’s one of the hardest working and most caring people I know, and he somehow still finds the time and energy to take care of me and our dogs (the boys). When I think of him, the first thing that comes to mind is his love for cooking. He’s usually found in the kitchen, whether he's whipping up a simple breakfast or diving into a brand-new recipe he’s never tried before. He’s always excited to take on the challenge and somehow makes everything taste amazing. Outside of cooking, Drew’s always got a home project on his mind. He’ll build or fix just about anything, sometimes after a few YouTube tutorials or a quick call to a family member, but he always figures it out.

John, as seen by Drew

John is someone who consistently puts his family first while taking on challenges with determination and grace. He completed his Doctorate in Pharmacy in just five years, all while caring for our two dogs as I worked away from home during the early part of our relationship. John also has a deep passion for children, whether he’s supporting families as a pediatric pharmacist or cheering on our nieces and nephews at their sporting events, he genuinely enjoys being around kids. He is one of the most caring and thoughtful people I’ve ever known, and I can’t wait to see him become a father, sharing his love of craftsmanship and his adventurous spirit with the next generation.

Advice to Future Child

The world is full of so many opportunities to explore. Always know the sky’s the limit, and we will always be there to support you no matter what path you decide to go down.

Perspectives on Open Adoption

Thank you so much for taking the time to learn about us. We know this is a deeply personal and emotional journey, and we admire your strength. We may not fully understand everything you’re feeling, but please know our hearts are open. If chosen, we promise to love your child unconditionally and support them every step of the way. They will always know how much you love them and how brave you were in making this decision. If you’d like, we’d be honored to keep in touch and have you be a part of their life as they grow.
