All About Josh & Alycia

We’re a loving, grounded couple who have built a life full of laughter, faith, and purpose. Our home is a warm and welcoming place, filled with love and plenty of tail wags thanks to our two Labrador Retrievers: Charlie, our calm and loyal 5-year-old yellow Lab, and Millie, our playful and sweet 4-month-old chocolate Lab. We’re actively involved in our church community, and we love traveling, camping, and making memories together- especially when we can share those experiences with others. Over the years, we’ve opened our home to high school exchange students from around the world, creating lifelong bonds and a home that values diversity, connection, and unconditional love. Alycia stays home full-time, while Josh serves as a dedicated police sergeant and runs our small business on the side. Becoming parents has always been a dream close to our hearts, and we’re so excited to welcome a child into a life filled with faith, stability, laughter, and endless love.

Why Adoption?

After much thought and reflection, we feel adoption is the path that best fits who we are and the family we want to create. We’re excited to welcome a child into a home filled with warmth, encouragement, and endless support as they grow and thrive.

Family & Home

Our home is a peaceful three-bedroom, two-bath house in a quiet rural neighborhood in Bridgeport, Texas, tucked away on a cul-de-sac. It’s a calm and cozy place filled with laughter, love, and the occasional paw print from our two Labs, Charlie and Millie. One of our favorite things about our home is the large fenced backyard- Alycia loves starting her mornings there with coffee on her egg swing, while Josh enjoys grilling or smoking meat in the garage with music playing and dogs at his feet. Our church is just a short walk away across the field next to our cul-de-sac, and we’re close to parks, a community pool, and the public library. We also spend time at our family farm in Chico, where we ride four-wheelers, fish, enjoy campfires, and care for the cows.

Our community is close-knit and supportive, and we’re actively involved in our church and church events. Relationships mean a lot to us- while some of our closest loved ones have passed on, we are very connected with extended family. Alycia’s mom and stepdad live in East Texas, where they keep a horse and a donkey and are thrilled about becoming grandparents again. We visit them often and enjoy spending weekends together. Alycia also has several half and step-siblings, along with nieces and nephews. Josh has strong bonds with his aunts, uncles, cousins, and their children. Family time is important to us- we take a yearly camping trip with Josh’s cousin, usually to the Guadalupe River, and our holidays are full of traditions. Halloween is spent trick-or-treating with Josh’s family, Thanksgiving is at Alycia’s parents’ house, and Christmas includes Alycia’s homemade lasagna on Christmas Eve and a breakfast charcuterie board on Christmas morning at home. Easter brings a big family meal and a multi-age egg hunt at Josh’s cousin’s home. Our lives are grounded in connection, tradition, and a lot of love.

How others describe me

Josh is kind-hearted, hardworking, and full of laughter. He has a way of making everyone feel welcome and loved. Whether he’s lending a helping hand or sharing a goofy joke, his warmth and sincerity shine through. He is patient, supportive, and always ready for an adventure. -Alycia

Alycia is the kindest, soft-spoken, sort of introverted, loving, and wholesome lady I know. Her love is the foundation on which our family is built. Her laughter is the mother that bonds us close. To know her is to genuinely know kindness. - Josh

how we met

How We Met

We met through Facebook Dating, something neither of us expected to actually work, but we’re so glad it did! After chatting for a while, we decided to meet up at a local winery for our first date. We spent hours talking, laughing, and getting to know each other, and it quickly felt like we had known each other forever.

Advice to Future Child

Always know how deeply you are loved. From the very beginning, you were wanted and prayed for. Life will have its ups and downs, but you will never walk through it alone. Lean into kindness, stay curious, and never be afraid to ask questions or make mistakes- that’s how we grow. Be brave enough to be yourself, even when it feels hard. You are already enough just as you are.

Remember that family is about love, trust, and showing up for one another. We’ll be here through every high and low, cheering you on, holding you up, and reminding you of your worth. Work hard, laugh often, forgive quickly, and stay humble. Always look for the good in people, and be the kind of person who brings light wherever you go.

We can’t wait to see who you become- but no matter where life takes you, you’ll always have a safe place to land right here with us.

Perspectives on Open Adoption

We approach open adoption with a deep sense of respect, compassion, and humility. We believe that a child can never be loved by too many people, and if it’s possible and healthy for everyone involved, we welcome the opportunity for connection with their birth family. We understand that open adoption looks different for each situation, and we’re committed to honoring the unique needs, boundaries, and wishes of everyone involved. Most importantly, we believe that openness- when rooted in love and mutual respect- can help a child grow up with a stronger sense of identity, belonging, and truth. We are here to walk that journey with care, grace, and a heart always centered on the well-being of the child.
