We love to experience the world through travel and we are always learning and growing. After being without children for almost 15 years, we had Parker, our daughter in 2018. We had no idea how enriched our world would be until she came along. We are so excited to expand our family and expand this love. We continue to travel home and abroad as a family, listening to music wherever we go, experiencing the unique culture of where we end up and sampling the amazing local cuisines.
As a family, we have been blessed with lots of love, humor and a kinship that strengthens with each passing day. Though we have been unable to continue to grow our family in the traditional way, we still believe there is another soul out there that is meant to be part of our lives and journey as a family. We have the room in our hearts and our home, and can’t wait to grow our family as we head down this new path.
Along with the three of us, we have a very large extended family that is just as excited to welcome a new member to the fold. With three sets of Grandparents, 14 Aunts & Uncles, and 12 cousins (and more to come) there is always someone to visit, a birthday or holiday party to attend, and a solid network of loving people who are always ready to drop everything to help one another. We also share our home with three of the sweetest furry friends in the world. Seger is our golden retriever. To give you an idea of how gentle he is, his motivation in obedience training was being pet. He lives for love. Santino, our big orange kitty, knows no strangers, will sit in any lap and is the most dog-like cat in the world. Gidget is our pretty petite princess cat and never stops purring. Stevie (Nicks), our latest edition, is a sweet and sassy 11 week old pup. She is learning the ropes and likes to be Seger’s pesky kid sister.
Our daughter, Parker, is 7 years old. She has been asking for a little brother or sister for years and takes every chance she can get to practice with the younger kids in her Montessori class, showing them the ropes whenever she can.
She stays very busy with soccer, violin and taekwondo. She also loves helping take care of her new foster cousins every chance she gets. She is smart, funny, independent and can’t wait to be a big sister!
Our home is a wonderful old brick house from the mid-late 1800’s in Delaware, Ohio. It’s a great old place that has a large backyard, complete with a big tree swing and backyard chickens to provide fresh eggs daily. We’ve recently been renovating (it’s a good thing that Justin enjoys his work) and have just finished a new bedroom, ready to become a sanctuary for the newest member of our family. While we love any traveling we are fortunate enough to do, and even enjoy a walk into town for the farmers market or a monthly First Friday celebration, our favorite place to end up is our old brick house.
Joey: Joey is a veterinarian and owns her own neighborhood veterinary clinic in Delaware, Ohio. According to Justin, she loves her family fiercely and has boundless energy when it comes to children! Nightly after a long day at work, she can be found running all over the house with Parker, playing tag, hide n’ seek or whatever crazy game she can come up with! Her goal is for her children to grow into happy, confident & capable adults who live their lives not only to the fullest, but with a never ending spirit of wonder and adventure!
Justin: Justin is a general contractor and owns his own handyman business. According to Joey, he is one of the funniest men alive and is kind and playful in his parenting style. His goal is for his children to grow into strong, independent, loving and happy adults. His favorite pastime is treasure hunting; whether it be for arrowheads, metal detecting, or fossil hunting (shark tooth hunting is at the top of the list) it’s always an adventure. Wherever he goes, a good treasure hunt isn't far behind!
We met each other 30 years ago when we were in high school, went our separate ways, did a great deal of growing up and adventuring and then married 22 years ago. We are the love of each others’ lives, committed partners, parents and best friends. We are very opposite in many ways but aligned on all of the important things and complement each other in the best ways.
We are here to guide you to be the independent, amazing, individual that you are destined to be. It’s a bit like watching our heart walk around outside of our body watching our children find their own path in life but we know this is necessary for you to learn to be the strong confident adult that you will be. Our job is to love you and guide you to make kind and safe decisions but to support you fully in who you will become so that you can live a happy and full life.
We cannot imagine how difficult this decision must be for you. We want you to know that we are committed to raising a strong, healthy, happy and balanced child that we will love with every ounce of our being. Our family is the focus of our world and your child will be part of our big loving, adventurous, supportive family. We want your child to know you and their biological family as well if that is your wish and desire. If not, we understand that too. We are strong believers in knowing where you come from and having a link to your heritage and roots and we are committed to making sure that your child will know who they are in the fullest sense.
