We are happy for the time you spend exploring our profile and hope you get to know us and our life by visiting our page! We will provide a loving, stable, inclusive, and supportive home where a child can thrive, be cherished, and grow into their fullest potential. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
We understand how many emotions and considerations are involved in making this difficult decision, and we truly value the relationship you have with this child. We deeply respect the special role you have in their life, and we are committed to honoring that connection. Your place in their story is incredibly important, and we want to do everything we can to keep that at the front of our minds and hearts. We look forward to getting to know you!
About us:
We met in 2011, and Matt knew the moment David walked through the door that he wanted to know him. Cheesy pick-up lines were expressed and we quickly flowed into a deep, connected conversation that hasn’t stopped for almost 14 years. We were legally married on November 2, 2018, and had our wedding ceremony on April 13, 2019, with our closest friends and family. It was quite the party! We are each other’s best friends and have forged a life for ourselves in commitment and love, which we extend outward into our families, careers, and communities. We have supported each other to go after our passions and we believe at our core that our marriage is strengthened when we choose each other every day. We have two cats, Dean and Deluca, whom we got through adoption. Dean is our “old man,” who is 17 years old and enjoys lots of cuddles and warm laps, while Deluca is our 4-year-old kitty. He is playful, curious, and loves being around people. We live in a diverse neighborhood in Columbus, Ohio filled with families, couples, retirees, and single people whom we support and feel supported by. And Matt's sister's large family lives nearby! We spend our time enjoying being uncles, travelling to new places, as well as Florida to visit Matt’s mom, and cooking at home. We hope to have our child experience the fullness of life through travel, different relationships, and new experiences. We’ve wanted a child to extend our family for a long time but first needed to set up a home and stability to support them as fully as we can. We are ready for this next chapter, and we deeply appreciate you spending time looking at our profile.
About Matt:
I was born and raised in suburban Detroit, the youngest of three. My sisters and I grew up very close and remain so today, so much so that I live 5 minutes away from my oldest sister and her 6 kids! After graduating from Michigan State University, I moved to Columbus, Ohio for work and to be closer to my sister and her growing family. I met David and Columbus quickly became our home as we set roots in the community. Family has always been the most important thing to me, and this includes my chosen family. I have learnt over the years that family can mean many different things and I am dedicated to those people whom I call family. I was given the wonderful title of Uncle when my first niece was born and it’s a role I have taken on with fun, respect, compassion, and love. My passion and calling have led me to become a mental health counselor, and I currently own a private practice in Columbus, Ohio. My work brings me joy and working with kids and adolescents has been the foundation of my career. I am deeply supported by my husband David, and we are ready to extend our love and support outward as we grow our family. I have many hobbies and enjoy playing hockey and doing CrossFit, which I also coach. Coaching and therapy provide me with constant opportunities for personal growth as I support my clients in their own journeys. They are my teachers just as much as I am theirs. I am warm, caring, and empathetic and I believe these to be my superpowers!
About David:
I was born in Southern Ohio and raised in West Virginia. My childhood home overlooked the Ohio River. I am the youngest of four children. My older siblings, two brothers and a sister, are much older than me. As a result, I became an uncle at seven. A total of eight nephews and nieces followed, and I became, and remain, engaged in their lives. After High School, I went to the University at Marshall, in Huntington, WV. Journalism and Art Photography were the focus of my studies, but a lifelong curiosity for all things technology related led me to a career in I.T., which began when I left University and moved to Columbus, OH. After cutting my teeth in the I.T. industry in Columbus, I jumped at job opportunities in Boston, MA, Lansing, MI, Lexington, KY, Charleston, WV, and finally returning to what would be my home, Columbus. I learned so much from this exposure to new people and the culture of each of these cities. During all this travel, my family remained close to my heart, and I was fortunate to keep engaged in person through traveling home. After returning to Columbus, and only three months later, I met Matt. Fourteen years later we remain joined on our life’s adventure in our love/support of family, friends, and hope for an eventual family of our own. Second only to my love of Matthew and our extended families, Photography remains my passion.
Getting to this point has been no easy task, but we know every step is worth the effort. We have wanted to be parents for quite some time and decided adoption was our best option because we wanted to provide love and support to a child and their biological family as well. We have learned a lot and understand the nuances that come with adoption. Our number one goal is to be parents who provide love, safety, and boundaries to guide our child to experience the beauty and fullness of life. We want to honor their history while creating a future filled with potential.
We have heard from friends and family that our home is warm, inviting, cozy, and loving. These words go deep for us as we pride ourselves on creating a home full of openness and love. Our home has lots of space, but we mostly find ourselves on our back deck or relaxing in the living room. We have a finished basement ready for more fun to be had! We live in a diverse neighborhood with many varieties of families. We have access to a beautiful pool in the summer and live across from a school filled with fields and playgrounds. We are close to many activities in Columbus, Ohio. We are deeply connected to our family and take our roles and Uncles very seriously. Between us we have more than 15 nieces and nephews and we are actively involved in their lives. We have many friends (who have children of their own) and they call us Uncle as well. Relationships feed us and fuel us and we take special pride in cultivating deep, connected relationships with family and chosen family.
About Matt from David:
As I sit down to write this, I can’t help but feel overwhelmed with love and gratitude for Matt. He is loving, spiritual, steadfast, and always striving to be a better human. Matt is not just my husband and best friend; he is at the heart of our combined families, a dependable partner, and a source of unwavering support. His commitment to learning and growing as an individual inspires me and others close to us. Whether it’s through his dedication to building a healthy body and mind or a genuine desire to help others, Matt embodies what it means to lead a fulfilling life.
I’ve had the opportunity to watch him reach out to those from different backgrounds with an innate ability to meaningfully connect with people. He is a natural therapist and provides people with therapeutic guidance which challenges them to reach deep inside themselves. Matt has a natural gift for listening, being an active listener who truly hears what others say, and that’s a rare and precious trait.
I can’t help but dream of the future and the incredible father I know he will be. I envision him instilling in our children the same dedication to helping others, enriching their body and mind, and the love of family that he has so abundantly to share. I can already see him teaching them the importance of compassion and understanding, guiding them to become empathetic individuals who make a positive impact in the world.
Knowing with all my heart of our emotional foundation, and the family he and I hope to build, gives me a sense of peace and joy that is hard to put into words.
About David from Matt:
David is my lighthouse. He is steadfast, patient, thoughtful, loving, and kind. I joke that he would give the shirt off his back to someone in need and I am not far off! He has supported me in life changing ways, especially in my career as a mental health therapist. He is always excited in my success and anchoring when I need grounding. Watching him in relationship with our nieces and nephews reminds me time and again of the man he is. They love spending time with him talking, playing, and getting bear hugs! I am excited to watch him grow as a father and share that experience with him. And I know how lucky a child will be to call him dad. He recently shifted careers into professional photography, and I am floored by watching his creativity shine through in the photos he takes and how happy his clients are with how he captures their essence. Every person I’ve known who has met him has shared how comfortable, safe, and warm they feel in his presence, and I could not agree more!
You are loved by so many people, even if you don’t see them, there is love for you. We are excited to learn about you, be curious about your needs, interests, fears, joys, etc. We know we can’t protect you from everything Life will bring your way, but we will do our best to help you understand the deepest things that make you, you. We believe the best way to experience life is to be authentic and true to your Self and we will provide you with as many tools as we know to help you understand this. Remember, there is nothing you can do that will change our Love for you. Trust your heart and instincts and follow those paths; we will be right there with you.
We believe in the power of understanding our histories, ancestry, and roots. With that in mind, we are in support of open adoption to allow our child to feel more deeply connected to their biological ancestry and family. We plan to express our support for their birth family and work with them to create a healthy relationship for our child. We will do our best to work with empathy and curiosity to support all healthy relationships for our child.
