Business Owner / Educational Audiologist
We have been married since 2013. Even before we met, we both knew we were meant to be parents. We also knew we wanted to make a home for our children that was not only brimming with love and laughter, but also full of supportive opportunities to grow and thrive. So far, we have been blessed with a daughter, Quinn, who is ready to be a big sister. We were also given the gift of a second daughter, Piper, who was with us for only 27 days due to a rare genetic condition. This loss has been incredibly difficult in many, many ways, but it has also strengthened us as individuals and as a family.
Jessica works as educational audiologist and is lucky to have the summers off to spend with our daughter. Ryan owns his own business which gives him flexibility in managing his schedule. Though we are both love our careers, we truly value and understand the importance of work/life balance.
Our weekends are devoted to being together, seeking out new experiences, and spending time with extended family and friends. We love exploring nature reserves and parks, visiting the local zoo, and playing with our beloved dog, Maddie.
Adoption has always been on our mind and in our hearts. In fact, we've began talking about adoption since we met. It wasn’t until we lost our second daughter after just 27 short days on Earth, that we were reminded of our mutual desire to pursue adoption. When she was born, we discovered her rare and fatal genetic disorder and learned that our chances of having another child with the same disorder was extremely high. We then knew that God was calling us to build our family through adoption, something we have always wanted.
Our family and community understand that it takes a village to raise a child; they are committed to walking alongside us to ensure our child is loved, safe, accepted, and appreciated. You should know that although the child that we are meant to adopt did not grow in our womb, he or she has been growing in our hearts for a very long time. This child will have our absolute love.
Our families are an extension of who we are! Jessica is extremely close to her parents and is often accused of calling her mom too often! Jessica's mother, "Gigi", is the essence of strength, generosity, and fun. Her father, "Gamps", is the pillar of stability and hard work. Jessica's is also very close to her younger sister, "Aunt Jackie". Jackie works for Disney — we often joke that Jackie is NEVER allowed to leave because of all the perks her job offers! Jackie lives with her long-time boyfriend, "Uncle Greg", who Quinn adores. Jackie and Greg are there for our family whenever we need them. Jessica's parents have a second home in Florida which we are fortunate to vacation at several times a year. We all love to travel together as a family (Disney World is a favorite), watch sports, and play games during the holidays.
Ryan is also very close to his parents who live in a historic farmhouse, just an hour away from us. They love to babysit Quinn whenever we need a date night! Ryan's mother, "Grandma", is an unbelievably devoted and caring support. His father, "Pa", is extremely hard-working and always makes us laugh. Ryan's younger brother "Uncle Chase" is pursuing his career in California. Though distance keeps Chase and Ryan physically apart, they use technology to stay close and to lean on each other during tough times.
In 2010, we bought a three bedroom home with a big backyard, in one of the top school districts in the state. Since then, we have been striving to make it a cozy family home. Our house is situated on a one-acre lot, less than one mile from downtown and in walking distance to shopping, restaurants, playgrounds, town festivals, grocery stores, and coffee shops. We love hosting our neighbors for barbecues and playdates. Many of them have young families and have become like a second family to us!
Ryan is an incredible man, with awesome hair! He is a talented and hard-working business owner. Ryan loves hockey, and was even entered into the NHL draft a few years back. He is the lone man in a house full of women— yes, even our dog is female. Ryan is committed to providing a safe, stable home full of memories and adventure for his family. At home, Ryan's goofy-ness is easily fueled by the sound of Quinn’s laugh. He’s definitely the “fun” parent —sneaking treats throughout the day for Quinn and dancing with her to Disney music...way past bedtime! Ryan has a way of making friends immediately. When you first meet Ryan, he will make you feel like the most important person in the world and will do anything to make you smile. Ryan is steadfast. During the past year, I have watched Ryan face many difficult challenges; but through it all, he has been a pillar of strength and an example of perseverance for me and Quinn.
I like to refer to Jessica as a "super woman." With Jess, there is never a stone unturned. At work, she cares for children with hearing loss and passionately advocates for them to receive the support they need in their classrooms. Jessica is intelligent, hard-working, organized, loving, and loyal. Jess has been my rock and sounding board since we first met and I’m a better man today because of her. The one thing I love most about Jess is the consistent love and dedication she has towards our family. Our daughter, Quinn, loves her Mommy so much and knows Mommy will be there for her, no matter what. This is the type of mom and wife Jess is. I am blessed to have Jess as my wife and mother to my children.
