All About Scott & Patrick

We are Patrick and Scott from New Haven, CT. Thank you for taking a moment to learn about us. We know this may be a difficult time in your life, and we are inspired by the strength, courage, and love that you are showing by considering an adoption plan. We are here to support you and would be happy to answer any questions you may have for us. We look forward to hearing from you!

Why Adoption?

Both of us have always dreamed of becoming parents and we are so excited to take this next step on our journey to growing our family through adoption. We have been discussing adoption for many years now, and we believe in supporting the expectant mother in her wishes to make an adoption plan and to provide a nurturing environment for the child. We dream of the day we can turn our spare room into a nursery and welcome your child into our family. Our goal is to raise a child who feels free to be their own person, explore their emotions, and be curious about themselves and the world around them. Above all, we are committed to centering your child in our lives and loving and supporting them every step of the way.

Family & Home

We live in a beautiful, quiet neighborhood with many trees. Our apartment complex is welcoming, and filled with kids and families. We are a few walkable blocks from a great park that has woods and a river filled with wildlife. The streets are always busy with neighbors running, walking their dogs, taking their kids to the playground, or grabbing a sandwich at the local market. Living in CT is a great opportunity to have access to both nature and city life. We go hiking and bike riding as often as possible, by the coastal beaches and also go into New York City for art, theater, and visits with friends. We love spending time together and can’t wait to share our active life with your child when we’re lucky enough to adopt. We have a lovely, sunny apartment, with plenty of room for a new baby. We have one kitty named Mumford who loves to follow us from room to room and snuggle when she’s not sleeping in her favorite chair.

We are lucky to live close to both of our families. Scott’s father and sister Erica, brother-in-law Reese, and two nieces, Lena and Rosa, are only 15 minutes away. We spend lots of time together, babysitting the nieces, and celebrating birthdays or just Friday night pizza. Patrick’s brother, Chris, sister-in-law Lisa, two nephews, Aiden and Dillon, and niece, Keara, are also only 15 minutes away. We spend a lot of time attending the kids' hockey games and gathering for celebrations. We have close relationships with these family members and many other extended relatives that are close by.

We also have a community of friends, colleagues, and neighbors that we get together with to have dinner, invite over for parties, or see a show or concert. It is a beautiful and loving network of support that we are very grateful.

How others describe me

Patrick (by Scott)

Patrick is one of the most grounded people I know. The moment I fell in love with him was on a visit to NYC with his family, including his two nephews and niece. They adore their silly, fun, and loving Uncle who listens to them thoughtfully and with care. One of Patrick’s best qualities is his ability to articulate his feelings and know what he needs. In his career, he has an incredibly open mindset, allowing him to have grace and understanding for everyone’s situation. Patrick loves music, fashion, documentaries, books, movies, and art of all kinds and incorporates this into his life passionately. His superpower is making others feel seen.

Scott (by Patrick)

Scott is one of the most thoughtful and curious people I’ve ever met. His family is the most important part of his life and is a wonderful uncle to his nieces and makes time to play with them whenever he can. He is an adventurous cook and loves to invent new dinners. He is playful and loves to explore the world, especially researching and planning new things to do together locally and when we travel. He loves his work in the arts, and in particular working with children and activating their imaginations through theater games and creative play. His superpower is making everyone he comes across feel welcome and supported and has a fantastic smile and laugh.

how we met

How We Met

We met in 2018 over many dinners and conversations. We have supported each other along the way, treating each other with kindness, compassion, and respect. We have fun and try to approach every situation with a positive and realistic outlook. We spent a lot of our time hiking, going to the theater, on bike rides, and cooking for one another.

In 2022, we formalized our commitment to each other with a small wedding ceremony surrounded by the people we love and who have supported us for many years. The next week we had a big picnic with a large group of our community of family and friends.

Advice to Future Child

Our biggest advice to our future child would be to figure out what they love and honor it. We would advise them to be their own person, explore their emotions, be honest to themselves and us, and be curious about their ideas and the world around them.

Perspectives on Open Adoption

We think it is so important for our future child to know they are adopted and to build a relationship with their birth parents if that is something desired. We are open to identifying a communication plan and being transparent with our child about their origins.
