Chief Marketing Officer / Sr. Director, Global Communications
New York
Caucasian
Hi! We’re Matt and Tommy! We can’t wait to share our life and loving home with a child. Through our cherished friendships, we’ve come to understand that family extends far beyond biological ties.
Since high school, Matt has been a writer. This led him to Sarah Lawrence College, a liberal arts college with a wonderful writing program where he studied Theater and Italian. He spent his junior year abroad in Italy, which gave him a love for the Italian culture and language. After graduating, Matt found the perfect home for his writing skills as a communications professional. Over the years, he’s worked with some of the biggest media brands in the world and loves finding creative ways to communicate these company stories to the world.
Tommy currently serves as Chief Marketing Officer for a Venture Capital firm. He went to Fordham University where he studied Theater and Communications. During college, he kept busy with internships at PR firms and even a fashion magazine, as well as being active on campus with responsibilities like running the incoming freshmen orientation program. After school, he channeled his creativity into the world of media, where he’s built a successful career as a Marketing and Content executive.
As we began envisioning the next chapter of our lives, we knew with certainty that adoption was the path we wanted to take to grow our family. We are open to and welcome a child of any race or background and an open adoption, believing it can create an even richer experience for everyone involved.
We have the utmost respect and appreciation for the incredible gift of life, and we would be deeply honored to provide a loving, nurturing home for a child.
Our Home
We live in a three-bedroom apartment on a quiet, tree-lined street on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, just steps away from Central Park. Since we’ve been together, we’ve dreamed of a home with character, history and charm – and in 2022, we found it! When we first walked in, we knew the apartment would need lots of work – but Matt also turned to Tommy and said, “This is the first New York apartment I could imagine having a baby in.” Over the next year, we put in lots of love, care and hard work to turn our space into a home that mixes classic design with modern living. From roaring fires in the winter to weekend family brunches — we can’t wait to share it with a child.
Our Life
We’re early risers, waking up every weekday morning for our run through Central Park before work. On evenings and weekends, we take advantage of all New York has to offer – museums, Broadway shows, farmer’s markets and new restaurants (we love all types of cuisines!). We’re passionate about theater, and Tommy volunteers on the board of a non-profit award-winning theater company. Saturday and Sunday mornings are special for us – we make sure to set aside the first few hours right after waking up to peacefully read newspapers and novels. We’re also big fans of travel and prioritize taking trips both big and small every year! Some of our favorite destinations include Palm Beach, Italy and Matt’s family’s country home in Vermont. The Vermont house is a perfect country escape for us on weekends.
Our Family
We’re so fortunate that we have so much family nearby! Matt’s whole family is right here in New York – his parents and sister just two blocks away, as well as his brother, sister-in-law and new baby niece a few minutes by car! Tommy’s brother, sister-in-law and two little nephews are also in New York. His dad and stepdad live just 90 minutes away in Connecticut, and his mom and stepdad are back in Minnesota, but visit often! We try to gather with Matt’s family for dinner every Friday night – it’s a joyous environment with lots of fun conversation and friendly banter.
Our Friends:
We have an amazing group of friends from a diverse range of backgrounds. Many of our friends have their own children, and we love being Uncle Matt and Uncle Tommy to them. During college, Matt spent time living in Italy, and so we also have a wonderful circle of friends in Milan who we travel to see several times a year. We can’t wait to raise our child speaking Italian and to bring them to meet their Italian “cousins.”
Traditions:
While we don’t identify as deeply religious ourselves, our family’s cultural traditions hold a special place in our hearts.
Matt comes from a Jewish family, and it’s important to incorporate the values of that heritage in our lives – the emphasis on family, education, and community. On most Fridays, we gather with Matt’s loved ones to celebrate Shabbat, a cherished moment to pause, reflect, and reconnect. And each spring, the entire extended family reunites to celebrate the high holiday of Passover, filled with laughter, connection, and a sense of belonging.
Tommy was raised in the Catholic faith, and so Christmas has become a beloved annual celebration, with Tommy ensuring our tree grows bigger and fuller with each passing year.
And Thanksgiving has become a time to unite both sides of our blended family!
About Matt, by Tommy
Matt is the best friend you could ever ask for. A born and raised New Yorker, he is fiercely loyal and devoted to his friends and family. He has a passion for learning and discovering—especially when it comes to history and literature. Every trip we take involves visits to old houses, and he’s always up to watch an old black and white movie or one that takes place in a different time period. I can’t wait for him to share his interests with a child. Matt has a deep love for Italy (he’s fluent in Italian!) and is an avid traveler, always planning our next adventure. He’s a planner through and through, whether it’s a vacation, a renovation, or a date night out, ensuring every detail is just right.
About Tommy, by Matt
Tommy is a magnetic personality! He grew up in Minnesota but moved to New York for college and has been here ever since. Everyone who meets Tommy is drawn to his charismatic energy and humor. Always the life of the party, he is empathetic and always thinking of how to make others feel comfortable and at home. He uses jokes and relatable stories to connect with new people and relate to them. He is outgoing, curious and makes new friends wherever he goes – we get stopped on the street all the time to chat with people he’s met in the neighborhood. Tommy loves to run and has gotten us both into a routine of morning jogs through Central Park before work – he recently ran the New York City marathon!
We met in 2009 just after graduating college and have been together ever since. From moving into our first home together, to our wedding in 2015, and to becoming godparents and uncles, we’ve built a loving, warm life together full of friendships, adventures, and lots of laughter. We’re so excited to provide a nurturing, caring environment for a child with us in our home on the Upper East Side of New York City.
Everyone is different! Don’t compare yourself to others or think that there is a ‘right’ way to do life. We’re each marching to the beat of our own drum, and that’s what makes the world go round.
We’re open to an open adoption, believing it can create an even richer experience for everyone involved.
