All About Zane & Jeni

We are both 31 years old and live in a small town in Idaho. We have lived there for 9 years with our cat, Cleveland. Zane works as a Branch Manager of a bank and Jeni is a Dental Assistant. We both love our jobs and enjoy helping people. We love to travel and plan vacations any chance we get. We are big Disney fans and would love to take our future children on many Disney vacations, especially Disney cruises. You can often find us at a sporting event as well, we live close to a University where we frequent the football and basketball games. Summer is our favorite season and we love to spend time hiking, swimming, and paddle boarding. We are also big movie fans and really enjoy spending weekend evenings watching a good show. We live in a very tight-knit and supportive community with many great people around us. Our faith is important to us and we strive to serve and be involved with our church as much as we can. We are part of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. We love to laugh and have fun and always try to have something to look forward to. We are hoping to share many fun times with our children.

Why Adoption?

Adoption is a big part of our family. Jeni’s Grandpa was adopted and we have three nephews that are adopted. We love them all very much and know that our family wouldn’t be the same without them. We have struggled with infertility for a few years and have felt that adoption is the best way for us to have the children we always wanted. There is more than one way to have a family and we feel strongly this is the way for us.

Family & Home

We live in a small town with lots of nice people around us. Our home is a townhouse that we own and have a playground in the backyard. There are lots of open spaces to be outside and many kids to play with. It’s a very safe community and everyone is very helpful. We live close to both of our parents and most of our siblings. You can find us spending a lot of weekends and holidays with our families. They are supportive and willing to help us with many things. We have a close relationship with our nieces and nephews and have spent many hours babysitting them and doing other fun things as they have gotten older. Our children will have many family members to love them.

How others describe me

Zane is a very kind, loving person. He loves his family and would do anything for them. He has a fun sense of humor and makes me laugh all the time. He is hard working and athletic. Zane is very outgoing and can make friends with anyone. To know Zane is to love him.

Jeni is one that is caring to the highest degree. She loves her family and her furry friends. She is always one that can be counted on. Don't let her shy nature keep you away, because once you know her she will make you feel special in every way.

how we met

How We Met

We met in our Junior year of high school when we were just 17. We live in a small community and knew who each other was, but had never talked to each other before and never had a class together until that year. Oddly enough we lived just around the corner and down the street from each other. Zane randomly decided to ask Jeni to prom and we had such a fun time that we continued to date after that and had a really fun Senior year together. After high school Zane served a 2 year mission for our church and Jeni did Dental Assisting school and worked while he was gone. We got married 2 months after he returned and have been married for 10 years now.

Advice to Future Child

We want our future child to know how loved they are. Even though you are adopted, you are one hundred percent a Johnson and will be treated as such. You have been so loved and cared for even before you came to our family. From all the waiting and effort that has gone in to finding you and all the fundraising we did to help make it happen. We will always be there for you and you have our full support in whatever you want to do in life. Always be kind and serve others, that will bring you a lot of joy in helping other people. Also work hard and enjoy life. We have waited a long time for you and will be enjoying every second we spend with you.

Perspectives on Open Adoption

We feel that open adoption can be a really good thing. When done in the correct way, it can be a really healthy relationship for all involved. It’s good to have that communication with our baby’s birth mom to know of medical history or other information like that. Also, it can be really good for the baby to know where they come from and understand why they were adopted. We hope to have an open adoption to be able to keep the birth mom included in our baby’s life with pictures/videos and occasional visits.
