All About Adam & Kim

Kim was born in New Jersey and moved to Arizona when she was six.  Both her parents and her brother live close by and regularly have Sunday dinners together. Adam was born in Ohio and bounced between Arizona and Ohio upon going to College; finally putting his roots down in Arizona in 2010.  Currently, his parents live half the year in Ohio and the other half in Arizona.  Adam’s sister lives in Pennsylvania with her husband and two sons (twins!).

After dating for one year, Adam proposed to Kim on Valentines Day in New Orleans.  They were married in 2019.  Kim and Adam are both dog lovers and currently have two loving and playful dogs, Sydney and Ozzie.

Why Adoption?

We have always wanted to have children.  Over the past few years we have been unsuccessful trying on our own.  We both feel that we have a lot of love to give a child and feel that adoption is a great option for that.

Family & Home

We bought our first home together in the Summer of 2020.  A four-bedroom, 2.5 bath home.  Our house sits in a cul-de-sac lot and has a very large backyard with a gated pool.  We fell in love with this home partly due to the mountain views and the quiet family neighborhood feel.  Our neighbors in the cul-de-sac treat each other as part of a community, occasionally hosting get-togethers.  Just down the street from our house is a large community park with a nice playground, volleyball and tennis courts, baseball and soccer fields.  The park also hosts many community events and during the Summer we have gone and enjoyed local music festivals.

When Adam’s family is in Arizona, it is nice to have them close by for regular visits.  We stay close to Adam’s sister’s family in Pennsylvania by seeing each other at least once a year, while talking to them virtually regularly.  We see Kim’s immediate family often and celebrate holidays and birthdays together.  Kim’s extended family still lives on the east coast and we often make trips out there to visit.  Overall, our family relationships are extremely important to us.

How others describe me

Adam was immediately drawn to Kim’s beautiful smile when they first met.  After a few dates, he learned that she was not only attractive, but extremely caring as well.  Kim’s kind persona draws people to her.  She has gained a lot of her work ethic from her dad, who always seems to be working on something.  It took Adam and Kim a long time to finally meet each other, but Adam feels truly fortunate to have waited for such an amazing woman.

When Kim first met Adam, she was struck by how tall, handsome and funny he was.  After getting to know him, she realized he was the nicest person that she had ever met.  He can get along with anyone and can strike up a conversation with anyone they meet out on their adventures.  Adam is a very laid back and go-with-the-flow kind of man.  Kim jokes that Adam is her personal jukebox and can turn anything they do into a jingle.  Adam never fails to make Kim smile and make the days fun.

how we met

How We Met

We met the new modern way through an online dating site in 2017.  Adam caught Kim’s eye and she decided to message him despite the fact that he went to her rival college.  We met a week after our first message at a local restaurant.  A restaurant that we now go back to every year and order the same meal we first had together.

Advice to Future Child

Some advice we would give to our future child:

  1. Treat others as you would like to be treated.
  2. Take care of the ones that you love.
  3. Go outside and experience things for yourself.
  4. Patience is important to maintain lasting relationships.

Perspectives on Open Adoption

Our belief on adoption in general is that we plan on always being open with the birth parent’s child and they will always know where they came from.  We will answer any questions the child has about who they are and who their birth parents are.  We will let them know that they were adopted out of love and their birth parents can always be a part of their lives.
