All About Andy & Alexandra

We are Alex and Andy. Having grown up only a block apart, we reconnected in our twenties, fell in love, and have spent thirteen wonderful years together. In 2021, we adopted our son, Evan, and we have been overjoyed growing together as a family. Building our home has brought us so much happiness and we are excited to welcome another child into our family. We recognize how big your decision is to trust us as adoptive parents and if chosen will be forever grateful to provide a loving home for your baby. Thank you for taking this time to learn a little bit about our family.

Why Adoption?

We were so thankful to welcome our son Evan into our lives through adoption two years ago.  We are excited for a chance to share our home full of love and support with another child.

Family & Home

Our house is located in Upper Arlington, Ohio close to many beautiful parks and excellent schools.  Our neighborhood is incredibly family friendly with lots of activities for kids and many young families around. Alex has been hard at work decorating and preparing a beautiful nursery in anticipation for their growing family. Our house is often the main hosting spot for both Alex and Andy’s families and their kids. We enjoy hosting outside family meals on our back deck and evenings around our firepit.

Evan is intelligent, curious, and loving.  He enjoys reading - his favorite book is Brown Bear Brown Bear- and he loves being outside and playing with Chloe, our dog. Ever inquisitive, he likes figuring out how things work.  He’s quickly picking up Andy’s love of cooking and spends hours playing chef in his play kitchen. An avid explorer as well, he loves animals and enjoys looking out the window for squirrels and “boops” (his word for birds). He is very social and loves watching for the mailman, greeting everyone in the neighborhood on walks, and waving to the school bus every morning. While he’s already an excellent caretaker for his toy doll, he is hoping to soon have a real younger sibling to love and protect.

In the spring of 2021, we welcomed a new member to our family – Chloe, the golden doodle.  We had been wanting to have a dog for a long time and we were conscious of choosing a child-friendly breed when we finally made it a reality.  Not only does she love people, but she’s a social queen-bee at her doggy day care as well. She enjoys warm snuggles, any-and-all treats, and retrieving all the sticks.  Chloe is excited for another new walking and napping buddy to join her home.

Our family is everything to us.  When deciding where to buy a home and start our own family, we were excited to settle in our childhood neighborhood close to both of our extended families.  Our families have become close, and we all spend a lot of holidays and vacations together, strengthening our support system.  We have spent several family trips together, whether it’s visiting Andy’s sister and family in Lake Tahoe or spending the weekend with Alex’s parents at their lake house on Lake Erie.  Our families cannot wait to welcome a new member and have been actively involved in the adoption process with us.  We hope that knowing your child will be loved and cared for by a grateful extended family will ease your mind through this challenging process.

How others describe me

Andy is a calm, patient, and caring partner and an incredible father, brother, and uncle.  He is close with his older sister and younger brother and prides himself on being the favorite uncle for his nephew and nieces.  When he’s not learning a new recipe, building the home gym, or finding a new project around the house, you can find him hiking somewhere new and exciting across the world.  He is currently a Vice President in the financial services industry. Over the past two years, however, his most important and meaningful work is being Evan’s father and he is so excited to have the opportunity to welcome another child.

Alex is a thoughtful, organized, and caring partner and mother.  She is extremely close with her family and enjoys meeting up with them every weekend for brunch together.  A jill-of-all-trades, Alex enjoys everything from interior design to cross stitch to growing her rapidly expanding plant collection.  In the spring and summer, she spends a lot of time on the yard and takes pride in creating a beautiful and welcoming environment for the local wildlife. She is also a Vice President in the financial services industry. Being Evan’s mother has been the highlight of her life these past two years and she cannot wait to provide a loving and warm home for another child.

how we met

How We Met

We grew up a block apart from each other and attended the same middle school and high school and even went to the same college.  We reconnected in our twenties, got married in 2016 and have spent 13 wonderful years together.

Advice to Future Child

Be curious and eager to learn, be kind and compassionate, believe in yourself, and be open-minded and embrace diversity.  We look forward to giving a child everything they need for success and cannot wait to support them in whatever their dreams may be.

Perspectives on Open Adoption

We firmly believe in embracing all levels of openness in adoption and recognize the profound importance of establishing connections with the birth parents and birth family.  We are committed to honoring and supporting the individual needs and desires of everyone involved, ensuring that the best interests of the child remain at the heart of our adoption process.
