All About BJ & Kristin

We are Kristin and Robert (BJ). We are so grateful to have an open adoption with Joseph, our son, and his birth family. Our marriage is strong and we're ready to welcome a 2nd child into our home. We promise that we will be good parents and raise your child with unconditional love and support. We will instill in them a strong sense of family, including knowing their adoption story.

Why Adoption?

The chance of us conceiving a biological child is highly unlikely, so we chose to grow our family through adoption. We are so happy we did! We have an open adoption with our son Joseph’s birth family.

Family & Home

We live in a townhouse in northern Virginia in a great location for BJ's commute to work in DC. Our neighborhood is home to many other families with children. We are also close to a walking path, a small lake, and a community pool. Joe plays with the other kids outside as much as possible. We are also close to many kid-friendly places like movie theaters, petting zoos, water parks, etc. Our parents live 20 and 30 minutes away, so we see them quite frequently.

Dobby and Molly are our Italian Greyhounds. They are six years old and are brother and sister. They provide endless entertainment around the house and are very sweet!

How others describe me

We met in 2005 and got married in 2009. Our dogs arrived in 2012 and Joseph was born and adopted in 2015. Kristin thinks BJ is a strong person and a hard worker. He loves football, hockey, and coaching Joe's flag football and basketball teams. BJ thinks Kristin is loyal and passionate. She loves being the family photographer, getting involved in the adoption community, and writing.

Advice to Future Child

We value stability, honesty, and family. Just as we hope with our son, Joseph, we want to raise another child to be a smart, honest, appreciative, productive member of society. We want a well-rounded life for them- full of family gatherings, sports, education, travel, and volunteering.

Perspectives on Open Adoption

Thank you for learning about us. We know this is so incredibly hard. We're agreeable to whatever level of openness you and the agency are comfortable with. If you want to visit or us to visit you, that's fine with us. If you want to exchange letters and photos only, we respect that too. We know from our own experience that it is beneficial for everyone in the adoption triad to know each other. Every person has a story uniquely their own. Every adoption is different so we understand if you want to do things differently than our son's birth mom. We won't pretend to understand what you're going through, but know that your decision to place for adoption would impact our family in wonderful ways. We'd be so grateful and honored to be chosen as the family you place your child with. You, of course, would also be considered a new family member.
