All About Chris & Lindi

Hi there! We are Lindi and Chris. Thank you for reading our profile and considering us as adoptive parents for your beautiful baby. We recognize how brave you are to choose life for your child by considering an adoption plan. We promise your child will be loved, encouraged, and provided for in every way possible. We look forward to them becoming part of a large, adventurous, supportive and loving family. We will honor your child’s story, to always speak of you with love, and to raise him or her to understand how we all came together through adoption.

Just a little about us…we love to be outside and can usually be found skiing, mountain biking, camping, hiking, road biking, golfing, riding motorcycles or traveling. Our day to day life is spent working hard. We both work full time and have busy schedules. Lindi works from her home office, so loves that she can be flexible. She tries to get outside with her sister everyday to exercise.

Most of our evenings and Saturdays are spent together in the mountains, spending time with our extended family (lots of soccer/baseball games, sleepovers, birthday parties, family dinners etc.). We are very involved in our community and our church and both enjoy serving with the youth currently. Our nieces and nephews are a huge part of our life and they pop in regularly. They always have something going on, so they keep us very busy! Our family and our faith are the most important things to us.

We also love to just have downtime, sitting on the porch swing, going to dinner or watching a movie. We love that we are each other’s favorite person to do everything with!

When we get the chance to get away, we love taking scenic routes, exploring the backcountry, finding new trails and experiencing different cultures. A few of our favorite experiences have been backpacking around Europe, and taking our nieces and nephew on a Salmon River Raft Trip. Life is full of challenges, but we feel so blessed to be able to face them together. We want to grow our family with children and continue the beautiful life and loving traditions we grew up with and continue to enjoy.

Why Adoption?

We always knew we wanted children and after getting married agreed that we would like to adopt. After many failed fertility treatments, and experiencing a lot of challenges and loss, we decided that adoption would be the best way to grow our family. We have had close family and friends whose adoption experience has been a great gift and blessing. We are excited to share our love and feel blessed and excited to be adoptive parents. We want to give a child the opportunity to be as blessed as we are and live a full and happy life.

Family & Home

Lindi built our home 12 years ago thanks to the help of her awesome contractor brothers. Then when we got married, Chris sold his home and “her” home became “ours”. We live in a very small town in rural Idaho. Our home is on 3.5 acres at the base of a beautiful mountain range, with amazing views and horses in the pasture. We love that we can do almost all of the things we love within minutes from our front door. We love our local Ski Area and lots of amazing trails. We have a tight knit, loving community, with great schools, churches and people. Although our town is small, we enjoy the convenience of a larger city a short distance away with a university that provides cultural and educational opportunities.

OUR EXTENDED FAMILY

We have been so blessed to have most of our family members still living nearby. Because Linda grew up with a large family, we now have a very large extended family! We all remain very close and support each other in all that we can. Lindi is especially close to her twin sister. We have a huge support system of Aunts, Uncles, Grandma (Lindi’s mom) and cousins. Grandma even still teaches pre-school to the little ones! We love to get together on Sunday evenings just to visit with whoever can come. As the family grows, getting together is kind of like beautiful mass chaos, but there is so much love.

Lindi was blessed to be kind of a second mom to our 31 nieces and nephews and now has 13 great nieces and nephews. They have brought her so much joy. Many of our days are spent racing to soccer and baseball games, school programs, dance and piano recitals, graduations, church activities, birthday parties etc. but we wouldn’t have it any other way. Chris has taken on all of this like a champ and has entered “favorite uncle status”. We thank God everyday to have all of these little ones (and some grown up now) in our life. Family is the most important thing to us.

We also have a large network of close friends who are a great support system for us and are like a part of our family. All of our family and friends are excited for a new addition to our family.

FAMILY TRADITIONS

We have too many traditions to count, but we love enjoying them in the different seasons and holidays.

Wintertime— We have an annual Christmas party each year, where we sleigh ride, do the nativity and exchange gifts. We also have a semi-annual snowmobile trip and all stay in a large cabin together in the mountains the week after Christmas. Also, because we all grew up skiing together, now most weekends, you can find dozens of us on the mountain together…from adults down to the two year olds!

Spring—We always have a big BBQ at the ski area in the early spring each year to end the ski season. We also have an Easter Egg hunt and egg roll down the hill at Grandma’s house.

Summer—we have an annual family reunion each summer where we camp on the beach and boat and ride motorcycles together. We are all competitive so it always includes some type of a race or competition!

Fall—My twin sister and I take all of the kids on an annual hike to the top of our local mountain each fall. We try to go on as many hikes and bikes rides as we can because it is our favorite season. Lindi loves to can salsa and peaches with her sister and mom. We top of the season with homemade scones each Halloween and Thanksgiving at her moms home every other year. We love traditions!

How others describe me

ABOUT CHRIS: Chris grew up with just one older brother, but he had a very large extended family. His home was the gathering place for Aunts, Uncles and cousins and he still remains close to all of them although most do not live nearby. He grew up next door to his grandparents in a historic railroad depot by the river—they were two of the greatest influences in his life. He faced lots of challenges growing up, but always felt a deep love and appreciation for his family. As a child, his days were spent fishing, riding his dirt bike, playing with his animals and working with his grandpa.

Chris works in Commercial Construction Management and is valuable asset to the company. He is hardworking and intelligent. Outside of work, he is always eager to jump in and help with projects for friends and family. A few of his favorite things are bikes, building trails, snowboarding, river trips, dogs, history, documentaries, movies, motorcycles, cars and tacos. Some of his most memorable experiences have been racing 100 mile mountain bike races, Heli-skiing, backcountry yurt trips, rafting the Grand Canyon and cycling for the Huntsman Cancer Foundation. Some of his favorite places he has traveled are Bali, Taiwan and Europe.

Lindi about Chris: “Chris is the most loyal person I have ever known and will do anything for me and all who know him. He is capable, good at whatever he does and I love that he can build or fix anything. I love his strong, rugged, working hands. He is determined, compassionate, honest, funny, hard working, steady and kind—he makes me a better person and I completely adore him.”

ABOUT LINDI: Lindi grew up in the country near beautiful mountains. There were 8 kids in her family, 6 boys and her identical twin sister. They were #6 and #7 in the line-up, so they were always trying to keep up with the boys! They rode horses, skied, fished, hunted, hiked, rode bikes and snowmobiled at or near their home and loved to travel and camp as a family. They enjoyed life a lot, but also learned to work hard and were very involved in their community and church. Her parents taught her to be strong, honest, compassionate, faithful, dependable, capable, and hardworking.

After high school, Lindi earned an Associates Degree in Recreational Therapy and then a Bachelors Degree in Public Health. She then pursued some post-graduate work in design. She later became an entrepreneur and for 16 years, has owned and run a small design agency where she works as art director and graphic designer. She also founded a small women’s outdoor clothing company. A few of her favorite things are being an Aunt to 31 kiddos, family adventures, skiing, biking, reading, hiking, cooking (mostly eating), movies, music, the seasons, holidays, piano, and photography.

Lindi loves new places and cultures and is fluent in Spanish. Some of her favorite experiences were serving a mission in Ecuador, working and living in Alaska and Studying abroad in Switzerland.

Chris About Lindi: “My wife is the most amazing person I have ever known. She is extremely intelligent, beautiful, kind, strong and compassionate. Her life is serving and caring for others and she is unwavering in her devotion to her family and me. She is the greatest thing that has ever happened in my life—I love her with all my heart.”

how we met

How We Met

We grew up in neighboring towns in the mountains of Idaho and met skiing there when we were around middle school age. Our lives intersected a lot throughout the years, but it took us a long time to end up together. We were friends for a long time and did lots of outdoor things together. We then dated for several years. We always knew deep down we were meant to be together, and were married in the spring of 2019. On the back of our car, our nieces wrote “finally married” instead of “just married”, which was perfectly accurate! It was worth the wait and we just feel so blessed to have arrived here.We are both each others’ favorite person to be with and we love doing things together. We make a great team and just try to enjoy every day. We grew up with totally different backgrounds, but somehow think a lot alike. We have had lots of practice at working through very hard things together.  Getting married later in life makes us appreciate every moment.  We always try to find joy in all the things we get to experience together.
