All About CJ & Joanna

Hi! We are C.J. and Joanna, thank you for checking out our profile! We have been married for 13 years and always knew we wanted a family right away. Adoption was always something we desired to do in creating our family and we have been so blessed to have been chosen by three amazing women to adopt their child. Our son Julian is 12, Klaire is 7 and boss baby Josie is 3. Our kids ask daily when the baby is coming and we always respond with, “in God's timing.” As you read through all of these profiles, please know we are wrapping you in prayers.

Why Adoption?

Why not!? It was never a hard decision but honestly after the sadness of infertility, adoption became HOPE for us. It has changed our lives for the better and has healed our hearts. We really believe God does design family’s and although ours looks different than most we know we were meant to find each other.

Family & Home

Our home is simple and safe. We are really blessed to live in a quiet neighborhood with tons of walking paths and a park a block away. We also have most of our family members, cousins and grandparents minutes away. The kids are outside in the backyard or riding bikes constantly during the summer. We love our backyard and most summer nights you can find us with a fire in the backyard.

How others describe me

C.J. is loyal, quiet and gentle. You can typically find him throwing a ball, building a puzzle, going on walks or cooking something yummy in the kitchen. He is steady and very easy going, he loves the Lord and walks his family and friends closer to Him.

Joanna doesnt know a stranger and loves people with every ounce she has. She is constantly volunteering to help in every organization that will allow it. She has a weakness for coffee and shopping, and loves her kids and nieces and nephews fiercely.

How We Met

Crazily enough we actually met in 6th grade in Sunday school and the same church we attend today! We started dating in college and we’re married surrounded by an army of people who love us in 2010. We have had our share of ups and downs but we love being with each other and still find ways to make one another laugh.

Advice to Future Child

You are loved, wanted, cherished and prayed for. There are so many people praying for you and your birth family, little love.

PS… Your siblings are already obsessed with you and can’t wait to meet you!

Perspectives on Open Adoption

Well, we have three open adoptions, so I guess you could say we know a little bit about that. They all look different and have changed over time for what works best for everyone involved. We are typically pro-open adoption as long as the child is always in a safe and comfortable place. We believe it is healthy for children to know who they come from but also to build a firm foundation to who they are in their adopted family. It’s important that they feel bonded and safe in all situations and are able to vocalize their feelings as they grow.
