Pediatrician / Librarian
Hello! Thanks for taking a look at us. We are excited to grow our family through adoption. We believe it will be a great and incredible experience to welcome a child into our lives. Jeff works as a pediatrician at a typical doctor's office, where he enjoys sharing medical knowledge to help parents feel less worried. His favorite part of his job is working with kids, who can be tricky sometimes, but are also cute and funny and keep every visit fresh. Jana works part-time at a library that specializes in history and is good at deciphering cursive handwriting from old documents. We are glad Jana has a flexible schedule as we start our family. We have lots of interests besides our jobs. Some of our favorite activities include board games (we have a board game room in our house!), hiking, crafts like leatherworking and basketweaving, guitar, ultimate frisbee, and travel. We also have one dog – a sleepy 10-year-old Beagle mix named Rascal who only has three legs.
We have wanted children for a long time now, but have not been able to have any together. We have many of the outward symbols of success – steady jobs, a nice home, a large circle of friends – but what is missing in our lives is a child to love and share it all with. We want to build our family through adoption and are very much looking forward to being first-time parents. We are grateful to be among the adoptive families you are considering.
We love where we live! Our house is on a quiet, tree-lined street that has other families and is close to a large park. Our families are nearby and excited to welcome a child (especially the grandparents!). Jeff is an only child, but Jana has a sister with two daughters who are currently 3 1/2 years old and 4 months old. We hang out together regularly and over the past year have taken our older niece hiking, sledding, and swimming, among other activities. We think that cousins would get to play with each other frequently.
Jeff is kind, generous, and thoughtful. He's an outgoing person who has many good friends. I especially love that he's affectionate and easy to talk to. He's a great listener who is comfortable talking about any subject and he has a great sense of humor. Jeff is also very smart and likes to describe himself as a nerd. He loves learning new things and has many hobbies. And of course, as a pediatrician, he's great with kids and very knowledgeable about caring for them. I think he will be such a good dad.
Jana is a smart, funny, and active woman who is somehow also my best friend and wife. I love how bright and inquisitive she is and that we can talk about all sorts of things. She has a sly sense of humor that you wouldn't expect. She also has an adventurous streak, and she's always helped encourage me to get out and do fun things. She knows how to roll with the punches when things don't go just right, and she's resourceful, organized, and tenacious. Jana is a wonderful friend who works hard to try and help people she cares about. She's a great person and partner, and she's going to be a great mom.
We have been a couple for a long time! We met at a Halloween concert when we were college students, dated for five years and have been happily married for twelve. We've dealt with a year of living in different states and handled Jeff's long work hours during three years of pediatrics training. Over the years we've laughed, cried, argued, and loved each other through life's ups and downs, and we are still best friends who enjoy each other's company.
Know who you are and believe in yourself. You are a strong, beautiful, and amazing person. Listen to and care about others because the world needs kind and compassionate people. Read lots of books and listen to lots of music. Spend time with the people you love. Remember how to laugh because it will help you through the hard times. Little by little, one travels far.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about us. We are committed to being open and honest about your child's story and celebrating their heritage. We would welcome your continued interest in their life as they grow, mature, and eventually, go on to write their own story. We respect the courage it takes to place such trust in others and we look forward to getting to know you if you choose to meet us.
