We are Heather and Mark!
We are incredibly grateful that you are taking the time to read about us, when you’re already going through an unimaginable amount of emotions. We can’t ever pretend to understand what you are going through, but we would love to listen and will always be here if you decide you want to meet us. As you explore your options, we respect and know that only you know what is best for you and your baby.
We are from Minnesota and are home study approved! We are hoping to grow our family through adoption for our first baby.
We are 28 and 30. We have been married eight years but together for twelve years. We own our home and are financially stable with tons of support from friends and family.
Heather is a physical therapist at a chiropractic office and Mark works in sales.
A tiny bit about us:
-We LOVE our dogs
-We love to travel and love to be outdoors, especially camping in the summer!
-We love to spend time in the kitchen together cooking! We have a huge garden too; our little one will learn to grow things and to appreciate the taste of homegrown veggies and fruits. Especially because we make our own homemade pasta sauce every year with homegrown veggies!
-We aren’t perfect, and can’t pretend we are. But we never go to bed angry, and our little ones will learn how to apologize and forgive, and how to communicate well with others.
-We love Harry Potter, Jurassic park, all things Disney and can’t wait to take our future child to Disney World.
-We absolutely love our families and friends, and we see them often. Some of our family members are adoptees themselves! There will never be a shortage of people to love on our baby as much as we do.
We know that you are in an impossible situation right now, and we hope that whatever decision you come to, that you feel peace and comfort knowing you made the best decision for your baby. Only you know what you and your baby needs, and know that we respect and honor your decisions. We would love to meet you, and talk about your hopes and dreams. We would love to get to know you, so that we may make sure if you choose us to become the adoptive parents, that we can tell our baby everything about you.
We are open and ready to travel and are home study approved!,
-Open to either gender/multiples/sibling groups
-Open to open or closed adoption plan or anything in between, whatever you’re comfortable with (and we realize things change, people change, so we will always be willing to adapt later on)
We are happy to answer any questions you have, and hope that you are surrounded with love and support during this time.
About our pets:
Lola and Luna are our 7 year old sassy sister cats. We adopted them from Mark's family's farm when they were kittens and introduced them to the comforts of inside living. They have never complained! Luna's favorite activity is chasing around the sun in all our windows. Lola enjoys romping with and chasing her big fur dog brothers around the house.
Parker is a black lab and Leo is a St. Pyrenees. They are best of friends who love to play with the neighborhood children, and have pool parties on warm days! Their favorite activity is when Mark fires up the grill because they know they will get extra good treats!
Adoption is our first choice for starting a family. We want our future child to know they are our first choice and not a backup plan. We have close family and friends who are adoptees and have been able to see first hand how adoption can be a beautiful way to bring a family together.
We bought our house in February of 2019 and have since done countless projects to make it feel like home. This last year Mark built a fence for the backyard that borders a farm field.
We have a large deck that overlooks the backyard where we like to sit and drink our morning coffee. Our house sits on a quiet cul de sac that has several families with young children.
Our house is walking distance to all three of our city's schools, and a large park that we love to walk by that has community movie nights monthly.
Both Mark and Heather's families live very close to each other, making getting together for holidays our favorite! Mark's favorite holiday of the year is Thanksgiving, he loves to have family and friends visit and eat!
Heather's favorite holiday is Christmas, baking cookies with her mom and driving around to see all the beautiful Christmas lights. Our pets' favorite holiday is Halloween; they get excited to dress up in their costumes and greet the children trick-or-treating!
About Heather by Mark: Growing up I always thought about the woman that I would marry and become the mother of my children, and from the moment I met Heather I knew there could never be a more caring, and compassionate mother than her. Heather's heart knows only unconditional love and her smile truly lights up the room. She loves to get out into the world and experience life, travel to different countries and she's always ready to try new food!
About Mark by Heather: I may be biased but Mark is the most amazing human I have ever met. He lives each day to the fullest by always looking at each day as a new adventure. Some of his best qualities are his humor, selflessness and his unconditional love. If how he treats our fur babies as a dad is even a glimpse into the dad he will be to our children there's no doubt in my mind he will be the best dad ever.
We met 11 years ago at a small coffee shop where we both worked. Mark asked Heather to dye his hair blonde one night after work and we started dating a few weeks later. Fast forward to today and we have been married for 7 years, have 4 fur babies and our dream home which we have almost completely remodeled ourselves.
Our advice to our future child is that the entire world is yours if you're willing to try your hardest. We will always be your number one cheerleaders. We plan to tell them everyday you are wanted, chosen and so very loved.
We have seen both open and closed adoptions in our extended family. We would love to be able to have an open relationship to whatever extent possible. We have seen how that can look a little different and may change over the years. We would love to stay in contact with the first (bio) family by sending pictures and emails or texts and if it feels right in person visits.
