Thank you for taking the time to read our story and get to know our family. We know that you love and want the best for your baby, so this must be an overwhelming decision to make. We don’t know what you are feeling about this decision, but you must be so brave and courageous to consider this for your little one. We’re so grateful to be among the parents that you’re considering for your baby.
We hope that our profile will give you a little glimpse of what life in our family is like and that it will help you picture the kind of parents we are. We are excited to get to know you and your little one, if that is your desire.
Adoption isn’t a last resort for us – it’s something that we have been dreaming about since before we were married. Bethany’s best friend was adopted and we both have close family members that were adopted as well. We lost several babies early in pregnancy and were thrilled at the birth of our son, Jonathan, but his birth left us unable to have more biological children.
We both love being parents and are beyond excited to add another child to our family through adoption. We believe that we should treat children the way we would want to be treated. While there are a few non-negotiables in our family, there are many times when we can work with Jonathan to figure out a solution to conflicts that pleases everyone. As parents, we will always listen to the kids when they talk to us; we want them to feel heard, understood, accepted and loved.
Our community of friends here is incredible. We all meet up about once a week. We are so appreciative for each of them and the joy and diversity hey bring to our lives. Bethany’s best friend is originally from Guatemala and they get together often. Peter’s best friend and his wife have three little boys. We recently vacationed together to Colorado.
Peter’s Dad is a farmer and his Mom is an elementary school teacher. We usually get to visit them during the summer. Peter’s extended family enjoys gathering together to celebrate July 4th each year. Bethany’s parents are both retired teachers. Her Dad taught high school science and her Mom taught 3rd and 4th grade. They live less than an hour from us so we are able to see them very often. Jonathan is always thrilled when they come up the driveway to visit.
We recently moved to a ranch house outside of the suburbs. We have about 5 acres of land and Jonathan loves running around and playing so much! We are excited to begin making this house our home. One of the things we’re most excited about is the upcoming addition of a few ducks and geese. We are also excited to put in an orchard and have lots of fresh fruit to eat during the summer!
About Bethany: In Peter’s Words: How do you put someone like Bethany into words? Any adjectives I can invent are incapable of truly capturing her essence. She is the most loving, gentle, forgiving, and patient person. I know… and I’m still surprised on a daily basis that she married me. Bethany creates beauty wherever she goes; whether it be our marriage, the ways he parents Jonathan, or the incredible music she creates. To put it simply, Bethany is a blessing to anyone who has the chance to know her.
About Peter: In Bethany’s Words: Peter is one of the most committed people that I know and I think that’s one reason why he is such an amazing husband and Dad. Jonathan’s face lights up when Peter walks in the room and their time together is usually accompanied by squeals of laughter and the sounds of them having loads of fun. Peter loves his work, which is what brought us here. He’s a spacecraft engineer, and works on lots of really cool projects! Peter loves spending time outside whether that is hiking mountins in Colorado or going on a family bike ride. He also enjoys working on his truck, spending time with friends, and making delicious meals on our backyard grill.
About Jonathan: Jonathan is 2 years old and his is a happy, easy-going little boy. He loves playing with other kids and is going to be a great big brother! His favorite activities are going to the park or enjoying a ride in the stroller while Dad goes running. When he’s in his playroom, he spends his time looking at books, hugging his stuffed animals, and playing with his favorite trucks. Even though he has many toys, he loves helping Mom unload the dishwasher. He carefully pulls out each clean utensil and if we’re lucky he’ll even put them away!
We met through friends and began dating long-distance. Although being apart wasn’t easy, we got to know each other through late-night phone calls and long weekends. We were married in a candlelight ceremony in 2018. Snow began falling as we drove away and the entire city got snowed in – including most of our wedding guests!
After our wedding, we lived in New Mexico and Colorado for several years before Peter’s job brought us to Kansas. Peter works as a Spacecraft Engineer and I (Bethany) am a Stay-at-Home Mom.

We want to honor and respect your wishes in regards to contact with your child if you decide to place your child in our family. We are excited at the thought of an open adoption and hope to get to know you and look forward to sending you pictures and updates of your child. We would also be open to visiting as often as we are able if that is something that you would like.
