All About Richard & Cathy

Richard and I grew up in the same area of Indiana but attended different schools. Being high school sweethearts might be considered untraditional in today’s world, but we knew that we were meant to be together. We dated for 1 year before Richard proposed. We made the decision that Richard would join the Navy and then celebrated our marriage in 2006. Those early years were full of love and adventure. I also joined the Navy because it was a good stable income and to serve our country. After being separated due to a few long-distance deployments, we decided to leave the Navy because we wanted to start a family. Our son Landen was born in 2013, and we decided to move back to Indiana to be closer to our families. We are excited to expand our family through adoption and know that Landen will be an amazing big brother.

Why Adoption?

We chose adoption because it has always been in our hearts. Adoption is the path we were meant to follow to complete our family. It is important that your child feels loved, chosen, and special. We want them to know that you loved them so much you decided to give them the life you wanted for them, and we love them so much we want to honor their entire story.

Family & Home

We are very proud of the 3-bedroom home that we purchased in 2022. We love that we live in a smaller town, but we are close enough to the big city to access anything we want or need. Our home is modern and cozy. Each child will have a bedroom. We love to sit out on our covered deck and enjoy the weather. The community we live in is within 10 minutes of the beautiful riverside. Our town offers local shops, family diners, food trucks, a top-notch steakhouse, golf, outdoor recreation, a 4-H fair, and a fall festival yearly. Also, the fantastic thing about being in the military is that our community stretches beyond our physical location. We have friends throughout the US. While we don’t get to see them every day, we do keep in touch and support each other. We live close to Cathy’s family and within an hour of Richard’s family. From holidays and birthdays to just the random visit to go fishing in the pond or to have dinner is always a great time with family.

How others describe me

Richard is funny, kind, a hard worker, and an amazing dad. I love his sense of humor, he is very quick-witted. He is the type of person that knows just the right thing to say to make me double over in laughter.

Cathy is caring, fun, thoughtful, and a wonderful mom. She wants to make every moment feel special so she can often be found planning for birthdays and holidays. Capturing these precious moments is really important to her so you can often find her behind the camera lens capturing the joy of the family.

Advice to Future Child

Always be yourself and try your best. Be kind to others. Trust your instincts and go after your dreams. Learn something new every day. Believe in yourself.

Perspectives on Open Adoption

We hope to have an open adoption so that your child can know their complete story if that is what you choose. They will always know that you loved them so much that you decided to give them the life that they have. We promise to always speak of you with love and admiration for the amazing opportunity of becoming their parents.
