Hi! We are Ruben and Silvia and we are happy to meet you. We would like to thank you for visiting our profile. We understand this is not an easy decision. Whatever your next steps may be, we wholeheartedly respect you. We thank you for choosing life for your baby and are honored that you are viewing our profile and considering us as parents. We will provide your baby a life of love, growth, and happiness. He or she will be our sole priority.
We are a married couple and live in sunny Southern California. We are both hardworking, loving, energetic, enthusiastic, and family driven. Both of our families and parents live nearby and we are both very close with them. Together we have grown to value our Christian/Catholic faith, our Latino/Hispanic culture, our friends, family, and neighbors, and love for one another.
ABOUT SILVIA
My name is Silvia and I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. I grew up in a home with my parents, grandmother, a brother and a sister. I am a first generation Guatemalan-American. My parents came from Guatemala to this country to provide us with a better life. My parents are hardworking and we didn’t have much growing up. However, we had each other. Strong family bond was instilled in me and my siblings since we were young. My grandmother, Abuelita, was my second mother and helped raise us. To this day, I clean my house with rancheritas and mariachi music in the background— something I picked up from my Abuelita. My parents taught me the value of family, respect, hard work, humility, and strong faith in God.
We are a Catholic Christian family and hold ourselves in our faith in God. I am active in our church and participate in the choir. Singing is like praying twice and I love it! I also volunteer in the church's Share the Blessings Ministry that helps feed the homeless and plans and distributes Thanksgiving meal boxes.
I am a quirky, loving, empathic, loyal, reliable, hard working person. I love music, the outdoors, hiking, camping, dancing, singing, movies, and spending time with friends and family. I earned my Bachelors of Science in Biology and minor in Chemistry and went on to pursue my Masters of Science degree. I have been working in the medical field for 10 years now as a caregiver to individuals 2 days old to 105 years old. I am grateful to work with a diverse group of friends and colleagues.
ABOUT RUBEN
I was born and raised in Riverside, California. I come from a large, extended family. My father is one of twelve children, and my mother is one of nine children. My parents and grandparents raised me with my two younger sisters and younger brother, surrounded by our extended family. With such a large, family there were always plenty of birthdays, baptisms, quinceaneras, holidays, feast days and events to go to share and learn about our culture. I have such fond memories. Memories of my grandmother walking us to school, my grandfather teaching me to read, my father teaching me to work, my mother nurturing me lovingly. It’s those foundations that instilled in me a strong sense of doing what is right and desire to create strong familial bonds.
I work in the food industry as a Quality Manager and have been working in this field for close to 20 years. High quality honey is one of nature's most abundant resource that the company I work for provides.
I have a passion for sports from a young age. Baseball was my favorite sport growing up. It’s often said to be the one sport transmitted from fathers to sons. I remember my father and uncles playing in recreational league games on weekends then running off to play with my cousins on the smaller fields. After the games were over, my father would walk over and talk to me while we played catch. It’s what I would like to one day experience in our own family. The thing I love about sports is what it teaches us: to work together as a team to reach your goals, to experience failure, but to learn from that failure and so you pick yourself up after you have been knocked down, to learn to be resilient. I love my family and friends and want to share our values with our children.
We have always known we wanted to be parents. Since we first met, we knew children and family bond was important. When we married we were excited to finally grow our family. Together we tried for several years and have not been able to conceive. We looked further into causes of infertility and underwent several tests, invasive procedures, and fertility treatments. We endured unsuccessful IVF treatments and miscarriages. With faith, each other’s support, and family support we have grown stronger together and appreciate each other so much more.
We love babies and children and have so much love to give. Through much prayer, we felt expanding our family through adoption is what God was calling us to do. Our hearts and our home are open to love, care, and nourish a child or children. He or she will be supported in his or her goals, dreams, and aspirations. We have helped raise our nephews from infancy to adolescence. This experience has given us a lot to look forward to. We can’t wait to have many adventures with a new little one!
We own a single story ranch style, 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom home with a fenced in backyard and pool. We love having summer BBQ’s and carne asada family get-togethers! We are excited to teach our little one to swim during the summer months. We promise you we have baby proof floaties on hand. The holidays are colorful as we love to decorate the house and love creating new memories.
Our house is located in a cul-de-sac with limited traffic. Our neighbors are family oriented with children of their own. We love that the neighborhood children are able to play football, basketball, catch, ride their bikes safely and that everyone looks out for each other.
Friends and family are highly important to us. The community of people we share our lives with is meaningful. Our families, friends, and neighbors are very excited about our journey to adopt. The nephews have asked to babysit already! Both of our parents are ecstatic to be grandparents and can’t wait to meet the little one. He or she will be surrounded by so much love. We love making memories, decorating during the holidays, and going on adventures. We have taken trips with friends and family to Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, Hawaii, and many more places. We love to travel and explore new things and can’t wait to have a new traveler/explorer with us.
About Ruben by Silvia
Ruben is an amazing husband, listener, attentive, loving, caring, generous man. He is full of trivia knowledge and may one day be on Jeopardy. He is a papa bear to the nephews and children love to be around him. Family nights with the nephews consist of cartoons, board games, swimming in the pool, or family game nights. He is patient, he is kind, smart, and respectful. He is my best friend, mi media naranja. I love that he has strong family values and we share the same dreams and goals of having a family. I know he will be a great father and will love unconditionally.
About Silvia by Ruben
Silvia has the biggest heart. She cares so much about her family, friends, colleagues, patients, and people in general. Silvia takes the time to think about others – how they are feeling, what are they struggling with and what they are needing. Is it a co-worker’s birthday? Silvia stops to get flowers, a card and makes the time to think of a thoughtful gift. Are Mom and Dad sick? Silvia is buying meds, taking over a warm dinner and setting up appointments. A friend calls in a crisis. Silvia is ready to lend an ear and come over to be there for her friend. Silvia makes the lives of all the people around her better everyday and by witnessing how much she cares it makes me want to be a better person. It makes me want to make things better for Silvia, for our family and for our friends.
We both have science degrees and backgrounds. We compliment each other yet we have our differences. If you ask our nephews they would say “we ran into each other.” We met in 2007 working at a Cheese Company Microbiology department. We were instant friends and our friendship grew into a lasting committed relationship. We saw each other through wearing lab coats and hair nets and have been inseparable since then.
Welcome to the world. We are here and ready to hold your hand, guide your path and protect your heart.
The world is so many things all at once – it can be big and scary and wonderful. We are here to help you grow little one. To empower you to think of all the possibilities and to dream. To be your light. To protect you. To bring you along life’s path and grow the light inside you to make this world a better place.
Baby we love you with all our hearts.
We understand and respect your level of openness. Our perspective is to work together in the best interest of the child/children.
Adoption is not new to us. Silvia’s mother was adopted by her family. Silvia and her siblings were partially raised by her adoptive grandmother and hold wonderful memories of their time together. We understand the importance of keeping those connections with family. Baby will know their parents love them and created this plan for adoption.
