All About Ryan & Sadie

Hello! We are Sadie, Ryan & Roman from sunny Los Angeles! We want to thank you for taking the time to learn a bit about us and to get to know our story. Family is something we value most in our lives. We adopted  our son Roman in 2019 and are so excited to continue to grow our family through adoption again.

A tiny peek at us:  Playing in the park with our son Roman and our dog Frankie. Cooking—especially hosting cookouts on our deck. Finding a great hike wherever we go. Surfing (well, Sadie surfs and Ryan, after getting thrown around in the ocean for a bit, cheers Sadie on from shore). Spending time with friends and family. Quiet nights staying in and watching a movie. DIY projects and making our house our home. Celebrating the holidays, especially Halloween and Christmas. Watching the sunset and the occasional sunrise (as long as there is coffee!) Traveling and exploring new places - something we are excited to get back to once COVID is over!

We wish to raise our children to be confident, intelligent, and fun-loving people. We want to help them grow into thoughtful and curious people who want to help others and are actively engaged in the community. Education is a priority for us, so we plan to provide our children with every resource to learn. We look forward to creating lasting memories together traveling in the U.S. and abroad. We are excited to carry on our family traditions and to incorporate those of our children's birth families. We greatly admire the choice you are making. We hope to have the opportunity to tell you more about our family and to learn about you and your hopes for the future and for your child.

Why Adoption?

Adoption is incredibly important to us and our family. Sadie's sister was adopted and that experience helped shape our decision to build our family through adoption. Adopting our son Roman was an amazing, life-changing experience. We are so excited to continue to grow our family through the adoption process. We feel that the shared experience of adoption between our children will create an important bond as they grow up.

Family & Home

We live in a diverse neighborhood in Los Angeles because it is important to us that our children's community is made up of people from all different backgrounds. We moved into our new home in 2018 and have enjoyed working to make it our own. It has plenty of space to grow our new family. We are within walking distance of an amazing park that has great open spaces and fun play areas filled with kids, and there are several high-quality schools nearby.

How others describe me

Ryan is charismatic, smart, and eager to learn new things. He can find humor in any situation and he makes me laugh all the time. Ryan loves to bring joy into people’s lives through his work as a television comedy writer. Even during the pandemic when we were stuck inside for weeks on end, there was never a dull moment. Ryan made sure Roman and I laughed and felt loved every day. Ryan is an amazing partner and a phenomenal father. He gets so much joy out of the little things and he lights up whenever Roman enters the room. Everyone we know calls him the “baby whisperer”—children naturally gravitate to him, and I can attest that becoming a parent came naturally to him. Ryan is loving, supportive, and kind and he will always make sure there is love and laughter in our home.

Sadie is an incredibly caring and thoughtful person. As a partner, sister, and mother she is selfless and constantly makes an effort to keep the people in her life close and makes sure  they feel loved. Watching Sadie grow into becoming a mom has been amazing. She freely shares her love of adventure and curiosity about the world, with our son. Being able to parent alongside Sadie and learn from her has been an incredible gift.

how we met

How We Met

We were introduced to each other by friends during the very first week of our freshman year of college! We were friends throughout our four years of college and then began dating after graduation.

Advice to Future Child

Life is short so be your true self, follow your passions, believe in your talents, and surround yourself with the people who lift you up and encourage you to be your best self. Also, brush your teeth every day and wear sunscreen!

Perspectives on Open Adoption

We believe that an open adoption is the best option for our family. It is important to us that our children grow up having a relationship with their birth family, and the more love there is for a child, the better! We currently have an open adoption and great relationship with our son's birth mother. It has been really amazing to get to know her and we consider her an important part of our family.
