Front End Web Developer / Personal Stylist
When I asked my friends for words to describe my personality, these are the three words that they used most often: compassionate, warm, and thoughtful. I knew I wanted to adopt domestically after working with children in a homeless shelter and fell in love with making sure each child knows their worth. I currently work as a personal stylist and love everything fashion. When I’m not working I enjoy reading and baking. I danced all the way through college and love any chance I have to get on the dance floor.
I am pretty much the epitome of the strong silent type. I’ve been called meek, patient, and likable by my friends and family. I first got excited about adoption while reading the bible, specifically Galatians 4. The truth that God chooses us to be a permanent part of his family despite our flaws is such a perfect metaphor for adoption. I’ve been a Web Developer for 8ish years and have been working from home with Laura since March of 2020. I’ve always enjoyed being active and have played baseball/softball and skied for as long as I can remember. I also enjoy collecting/designing LEGOs and have recently made a hobby of running.
Additionally, we love to spend time together! Since we both work from home, we often each lunch with each other over our breaks and take a walk after we are finished for the day. On the weekends we love to catch a movie or find a yummy restaurant to try out.
While we were going through pre-marital counseling we both expressed a desire to adopt. We believe that every child has the right to a fulfilling life and loving home. Because of that passion, we decided to adopt.
We live in a quiet neighborhood in the suburbs. Most of our neighbors are young families or older retired couples. Our home is truly our sanctuary. We have been enjoying turning the office into a nursery! We have a swing set in the backyard that has been used by many children and we can’t wait to see ours playing there on summer days. We are also connected to our local church. Most of our close friends are members and we often volunteer in our community through church events.
Both of us grew up in large families and are still close to them to this day. We enjoy Sunday dinners and other special occasions with both Trevor and Laura’s side of the family. Some of our fondest memories are from a vacation we take every year to Northern Minnesota with Laura’s extended family. It’s something we really look forward to.
How Trevor describes Laura: The first thing I noticed about Laura was her compassionate heart. Laura has the amazing skill of seeing how those around her are feeling and is always looking for ways to show love to them. Laura is an introvert but you wouldn’t know if you just met her because she is so outgoing and kind. My wife is an elegant, stylish, and petite woman, but she is also very strong. She is such a beautiful, humble and warm person and I so enjoy being around her.
How Laura describes Trevor: Trevor has a humble and kind heart. He makes each person he encounters feel comfortable and valued. I appreciate his unwavering faith and stability no matter what life throws at him. I can always depend on him for good advice or a shoulder to lean on.
We met through mutual friends in college. After being friends for a few months and having secret crushes on each other, Trevor went out on a limb and asked Laura out for ice cream. Going to college together was a great way to spend time together and grow the foundation of our relationship. Some of our favorite dates included trips to the zoo, volunteering together, and movie nights. We dated for about a year before becoming engaged.
Live your life knowing that you are loved and deeply valued by your family and God. You have a unique calling, so stay focused on the race that God has put ahead of you!
